Lets take a REAL LOOK at who started the ball rolling. Jimmy Carter and the Democrats started Fannie May and Freddie Mac in order to pressure the lending industry to allow more people to buy homes that they could not have afforded other wise. Then under Bill Clinton a bill was passed to allow banks to get back in to the Stock Market. This allowed them to sell Bad/Riskey Loans as investments to Wall Street. The sad part of this is that the Republicans did nothing to turn this around when they had the power to do so and now the Democrat controlled congress can't Even get enough of their own democrats to vote for it let alone Republicans. It should be noted in passing that the Democrates have a majority in both houses of Congress so they don't need Republicans to pass any legislation.
